Dr. James Mackey, M.D.

“We live in a time when there are so many advancements in cancer treatment happening on a regular basis. It’s exciting to witness. And I’m proud to be able to provide my patients with a personalized plan for treatment that encompasses these exceptional therapies.”~ Dr. James Mackey

Dr. James Mackey is board-certified in internal medicine with a treatment philosophy of comprehensive care that includes treating the whole patient. As a native of North Texas, Dr. Mackey stayed close to home for school, graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas and going on to complete his internship and residency at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Following his residency, Dr. Mackey went on to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas where he received subspecialty training in medical oncology.

Dr. Mackey believes strongly in developing evidence-based, individual treatment plans for his patients that can be supported by clinical research. His style of treatment includes spending time with his patients and their families to get to know them on a personal level so he can best understand their lifestyle. In so doing, Dr. Mackey establishes relationships with his patients that are built on mutual trust so that he can create a treatment plan that speaks to the individual and encompasses all areas of cancer care. In fact, Dr. Mackey’s treatment plans - in addition to primary therapies such as chemotherapy and radiation – may often include alternative therapies, counseling, nutritional support, and more.

Dr. Mackey works with his patients at Las Colinas Cancer Center, as well as at Southlake Oncology, and Lewisville/Flower Mound Oncology Group.

Dr. Mackey lives in a 1930s-era house where Dr. Mackey spends much of his free time engaged in home improvement projects. In addition, Dr. Mackey enjoys restoring old cars and returning them to their original glory.
